Adhering to the concept of serving the public, PayPal is committed to empowering individuals and businesses to participate in the global economy and thrive. Improving women's financial situation is an important topic, which is both a part of our daily business and our responsibility.
Looking at the world, we deeply realize that improving the economic situation of women can empower their families, communities, and even socio-economic development; By eliminating barriers faced by women, we strive to create a more inclusive world where everyone shines brightly.
As early as 2020, PayPal was selected as the leading enterprise of the "Economic Justice and Rights Alliance" at the United Nations Forum on Generative Equality. We pledged in 2021 to invest $108 million over the next five years to enhance financial inclusion and economic empowerment for women.
In addition, PayPal employees from 22 countries have solemnly pledged to provide over 10000 hours of skill based volunteer service for gender equality organizations by 2026.
Thanks to the unlimited enthusiasm and active participation of PayPal employees worldwide, we have achieved our five-year goal of 10000 hours of volunteer service ahead of schedule in just two years. PayPal actively empowers female entrepreneurs to grow and expand their businesses, fully utilizing various resources to provide diverse support and assistance for female entrepreneurs, such as products, services, donations, volunteer time, and professional knowledge. Since fulfilling our commitment in 2021, our employees have completed over 26000 hours of volunteer service through women's support organizations.
Through ability and skill based volunteer service, we help our public welfare partners enhance their infrastructure and leadership, thereby strengthening their own influence. Nearly 50% of the volunteer service we have completed is focused on skill based services. During this process, our employees further fulfilled PayPal's mission and values, while gaining practical experience in leadership principles, project management, communication, project execution, and honing their technical acumen in the new environment.
More than 10000 hours of volunteer service is a milestone and an important part of empowering women on their long journey. PayPal advocates for gender equality and provides technology, resources, and opportunities to help women entrepreneurs and professionals achieve long-term economic resilience and financial health.
The spirit of volunteerism is an important component of PayPal's corporate culture, and it can also help us build a more inclusive and resilient world. Under the theme of "Embrace Equity" on International Women's Day this year, PayPal employees actively participate in volunteer service activities in local communities to promote women's economic empowerment. PayPal is also committed to helping women and girls through partnerships with various non-profit organizations, including Black Girl Ventures, Her Academy, Narika, Cherie Blair Women's Foundation, and more.
